The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is by looking at the pattern of the spotting. 7 Posted Septem(edited) Hi folks, I would like to know if there's any new tricks to catch those big northern Pikes at Emerald Lake. They have the same coloring and markings – dark olive or black with spotted silver sides. Both black and white crappies are often confused with one another.
